Training and Demonstration Programme on IEEE Xplore
On 13th February 2024, the Central Library of Tezpur University successfully organised an orientation programme titled “Training and Demonstration Programme on IEEE Xplore” at Deans Gallery, School of Engineering, Tezpur University.
Overview:
Mr. Anuj Kumar Singh, Information Scientist extend his warm welcome to all the participants as well as to the resource person Mr. Abhinash Choudhary, Training Manager at EBSCO Information Services. He then emphasized the significance of the session in enhancing participants' understanding the maximum utilization of e-resources and databases that are being subscribed by the university for their quality of research.
Presentation by Resource Person:
The programme starts with honouring Mr. Abhinash Choudhary with a memento by Dr.Gautam Kumar Sarma, Dy. Librarian as an appreciation for his valuable contribution in conducting the session.
Further, Mr. Abhinash Choudhary then took the stage, delivering an insightful overview of IEEE Xplore Digital and its associated platforms eLearning Library and Computer Society Digital Library. He also elaborates the current subscription package of Tezpur University and its scope to cater the needs to carry out research activities.
Apart from the presentation, an hands-on demonstrations of the IEEE Xplore platform was also covered to explore the elucidated various features, which are as follows:
- Boolean Searches: Explained how to conduct precise searches using Boolean operators to refine search results.
- Alerts: Demonstrated the process of setting up alerts to receive notifications about relevant updates of specific journals.
- Author Details: Highlighted how users can access the comprehensive information about the authors, aiding in citation and research as well as it also allows the users to follow the authors.
- Full-text Access: Showcased the availability of full-text content in both HTML and PDF formats, ensuring accessibility and convenience for users.

The presentation & demonstration was interactive, allowing participants to engage actively and clarify doubts regarding platform functionalities.
Q&A Session:
Following the presentation, Dr. Bijoy Krishna Debnath, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Applied Science, Tezpur University actively participated in a Q&A session. Questions ranged from future conferences to IEEE membership and the availability of articles, conference papers on the platform against the current subscription. Additionally, Dr. Bijoy Krishna Debnath also sought clarification on the differences among Elsevier ScienceDirect and IEEE publisher for journals or articles published in engineering disciplines with the resource person.
The Q&A session facilitated a deeper understanding of the platform and its offerings, fostering meaningful exchanges between participants.
Conclusion and Vote of Thanks:
Finally, a short demonstration on INFED portal for remote access facility was also shown to the participants by Dr. Gautam Kumar Sarma.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Jitu Mani Das, Asst. Librarian, expressing gratitude to all participants, supporting staff of SoE and the resource person for their valuable contributions.
