BACKGROUND

Modern Libraries are now directly corelated with digital world with an aim to investigate and deliver fruitful user-centric information. Now-a-days users tends to be very smart while finding information on the Internet. This let them to develop a habit to stick with their digital devices such as mobile phones or smartphones and computers which has an directly adverse effect on their physical and mental conditions as they somewhat cut-out from the real world. 

A survey was conducted by (Stalin, P. et al., 2016) that find out there was a 70% prevalence of mobile usage among adults in a Semi-Urban Area of Southern India which led to Health problems like headache, earache, tinnitus, painful fingers and restlessness etc1


WHAT IS PAPER PHONE BY SPECIAL PROJECTS - EXPERIMENTS WITH GOOGLE ?

In 2019, Special Projects department under Google Inc., launched an experimental project named “Paper Phone2, a printable solution aims to let the users take break from the digital world. Although, the project was innovated and was awarded by IxDA 2020 for the best concept category, but we have barely seen anyone talking about this project and using it. In Google Play Store, this app has been downloaded by only 100K times, has 191 stars in Github repository as was last updated in Oct, 2019. The project is in under Apache 2.0 license, which allows collaborative, open-source software development.


ABOUT PAPER LIBRARY : AN EXPERIMENTAL SERVICE

The main objectives of this service is to incorporate Google’s Paper Phone alike features can helps the users to take a little break from the digital world by providing customized libraries services into printable solutions and finding-out its possible applications towards the well-being of its members and also to strengthen and building the society.
