Information Literacy Programmes

The Central Library, Tezpur University conducts various Information Literacy programs which includes tours of the library, instruction about the RFID and Automated Systems, Walk to the Library, Orientation programmes, sessions on research topics attempting to teach students and research scholars to know more about research and academic activities.


GOALS OF THE INFORMATION LITERACY PROGRAM (ILP)

  • To make aware about the Library services and facilities.
  • To develop learning environment for the faculty members, students and research scholars.
  • To promote the use of online resources for their research works.
  • To provide hands-on training to LIS professionals on various free and open-source productivity software such as Mendeley, Zotero, DSpace, Koha ILS etc.
  • To collaborate and conduct research oriented workshop and webinars with other institutions and renowned personalities to increase skills and knowledge.

By participating in ILP students/ research scholars will;

  • Easy identify predatory/ fake journals.
  • Learn more about access licenses such as Creative Commons (CC), Open-Access (OA), etc.
  • Effective utilization subscribed or consortium based e-resources.

  • Improvement in their discovery skills and better evaluation of existing information.
  • Know more about how to cite properly along with its various styles such as APA, MLA, Chicago etc.
