History

The Central Library has been started functioning since 1994. Since then, it has been the focal point of the user community of Tezpur University. The Central Library caters to the educational and research needs of the academic community and its resources are consulted by scholars from all over the country. At present, the library holds about 1,19,121 print books, 8,000+ e-journals, 1,255 e-books (subscribed + open-access), 46 print journals (2023), 05 databases, and 10,845 back volumes of journals.

Apart from this, the library also holds 3,040 CDs/DVDs, 241 Braille books, 3,120 thesis and dissertations, and 1,455 government publications. The library users can access all the online services and facilities such as WEB-OPAC, e-journals, e-books, Knowledge Repository, ETDs Repository, etc. from any terminal within the University campus.

The Central Library is an RFID-enabled and automated library integrated with open-source Koha ILMS to provide computerized services to the Tezpur University academic community. The RFID-based automation system facilitates Self-Service KIOSK, Self Book Drop Unit, Anti-Theft Detection System, and Flap Barrier.
